Louise Fletcher

Louise Fletcher played Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. This is her acceptance speech for Best Actress at the Oscars. I like it because it shows a completely different person from the one she played.

I wonder about the other characters too. Is Jack Nicholson a strong guy like McMurphy or are they as opposite as these two women?  I doubt two people could be such polar opposites, but what do you think?

  1. This isn't relevant to Cuckoo's Nest but I noticed Louise Fletcher signing when talking about her parents. It's interesting that both her mom and dad were deaf.

  2. I noticed that Louise Fletcher's dress is off white. I think it's interesting that Nurse Ratched (the lady that everyone hates) wears white which is the color of purity and innocence, while Louise Fletcher (who seems like a pretty nice lady) is wearing a sort of off-white or dirty-white dress, which makes it seem like she is less pure and innocent. It seems like a juxtaposition (I think I spelled that wrong) of colors with characters. Any thoughts?
