Another Kushner movie

While looking at Kushner's imdb page, I noticed some similarities between Lincoln and Munich, another Kushner-written movie. First of all, the posters are oddly similar:

It's the sort of dark image with the protagonist looking off into the distance, although that may be more of a Spielberg-thing than a Kushner-thing. They are also historically-based movies about heavy subjects (Munich is about the 1972 Olympics Munich massacre). I was wondering if anyone else noticed common themes in Kushner's writings.

  1. One of the things I noticed about Kushner's writings is that he seems unafraid to tackle controversial (even taboo) subjects. He kind of just meets them and their controversy head on, writing the stories from a variety of perspectives. I think it marks him as a courageous writer who uses his words to express his ideas on subjects important to the present.

  2. Like Lina said, it's clear that Kushner likes writing about controversial subjects, and is almost bored by regular topics. I can't imagine another visitor coming to KO and saying the F word in assembly just 'cause. But Kushner can pull it off. In his writing he tackles the big issues because no one else is and because he can.
