Great Gatsby Covers

I found this in the New York Times Style Magazine and I thought it was awesome! Matthew J. Brucolli collected Great Gatsby books with different covers and his collection is worth millions!
The covers are so varied and special in their own way. The article reminded me that everyone interprets writings differently and will decide to represent them with a different illustration.

Here's the magazine cover if any of you are interested in checking it out yourself...

  1. This is awesome! Lots of these covers show themes that we talked about in class. Personally, my favorite cover is the blue one with Gatsby's clothing but no head. I think it speaks to the mystery that defines Gatsby's character, and it also represents the fantasy that he chases throughout his life. I also think it's interesting that multiple books have Gatsby's yellow car on the front. I guess it makes sense, because his car represents his wealth (or, at least the illusion of it) and is pretty important in Myrtle's death at the end of the story. I don't really like or understand the cover with the yellow and black hashtag things, but I do also like the light green one with the compass symbol, representing the significance of East and West.
